Trivia

  • The overall design appears to be a 1940s theatre building with one box office booth.
  • In some episodes (such as "My Fair Leslie"), the theatre exterior looks significantly different in distant shots of Sunset Beach than it does in closeups. The most significant differences are the presence of a vertical neon sign and two billboard-style marquees displaying movies currently playing at the theatre, both of which are lacking in closeup shots in other episodes (like "Waves of Cheese").
  • As seen in "Waves of Cheese", based on the number of seats per row (15) inside the auditorium, plus the number of rows (five on the main level and three in the balcony), the Big Wave Theatre appears to seat at least 120 patrons comfortably when the auditorium is seen in a wide shot.
    • Strangely, in "Grommy the Vampire Slayer", based on the size of the theatre's stage, the theatre's auditorium space appears to be a spatial anomaly, bigger on the inside than the theatre appears on the outside. In closeup shots of the auditorium seating in "Waves of Cheese" when the groms are seen in closeups (and especially when they move around from one part of the auditorium to another), there also appears to be many more seats than the 120 depicted in that episode.
  • The theatre, at least when Kahuna runs it, accepts anything as currency. Under Kahuna's current ownership, it also exclusively plays surfing movies, whereas under previous ownership, it would most likely have played mainstream Hollywood movies before Kauhna bought the theatre.
